FEATURED ARTIST
The Wasco Festival of Roses Board of Directors is happy to announce the 2009 Featured Artist Kathy Miller of Morro Bay California.
Painting for over 30 years Kathy Miller has progressed through all media. Plein air watercolors are her first choice currently with the local landscape
and still lifes as subject matter. Primarily self-taught along with the help of many classes and workshops from a variety of well known artists.
She has developed a loose impressionistic style of realism.
Commission works have included several large murals. The largest being over 35 feet. A series of 12 works were also used by SESLOC Federal
Credit Union in an advertising campaign. You will often see Kathy at the side of the highway painting away. Stop and say "Hi" as she loves to share her work.
The public is welcome to preview Kathy's work at the annual Evening of Wines and Roses Honored Guest Reception to be held at the Valley Rose Golf Course Clubhouse on Friday, September 11th from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. A variety of wines from B & E Winery will be poured at the wine tasting. The cost per person is $30 which includes
a complimentary wine glass, hors'd'oeuvres, and an evening of fun.
Below are a few samples of her art work:
FEATURED WINERY
B & E Vineyard is a family owned and operated vineyard that was first planted in 1989. We were raising cattle, training horses and farming alfalfa prior to planting
the grapes on our current property. When we planted our vineyard, we had no idea that the Central Coast would become what it is now as far as a wine region. We
originally planted 25 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon on its own root. We then added another 25 acres of Merlot, and 8 acres of other reds that are used for blending.
Our later plantings are grafted onto a variety of different rootstocks.
We have had our grapes contracted out to other wineries since the early 90's. We started making our own wine in 1994, but did not label any for sale until 2002.
In 2002, we started with some small lots and have been increasing our production since that time. Our wine is aged in French Oak for 20 months before bottling. We
are producing 2500 cases per year and will continue to grow each year.
We are currently pouring wines on Friday thru Sunday from 11:00a.m. - 5:00p.m., and by appointment on the other days. We are pouring in a temporary site at this
time, but we plan to open our Tasting Room in Summer of 2006. We are a member of the Back Roads Wineries of Paso Robles.
Back Roads Wineries are small, less than 5,000 per year, family-owned and operated businesses. At these wineries, you are
invited to come meet the owners and winemakers, often the same person, behind the tasting room counters.
