FEATURED ROSE
Rio Samba is the Featured Rose for the 2009 Rose Festival.

WASCO ROSE QUEEN PAGEANT
The crowning of the 2009 Rose Queen/Miss Wasco on Thursday, Sept. 10
sets the stage for all the activities of the festival weekend. During the
pageant presentation a distinguished panel of judges selects the queen.
The event offers entertainment and pageantry that will please the entire
family. The program begins at 6:00p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets
are available at the Festival office.

HONORED GUEST RECEPTION / AN EVENING OF WINE AND ROSES
The 13th annual “Honored Guest Reception/Evening of Wine and Roses”
is being held at the Wasco Elks Lodge. Come and
celebrate with our featured families and featured artist. Enjoy live music,
hors d’oeuvres, and wine tasting.

PARADE
The annual parade on Saturday pays tribute to the beauty of the North
Kern area and the community spirit and home-town atmosphere that
abides in Wasco. The parade travels west on Wasco’s main street to
Poplar Avenue, turning south on Poplar and ending at Barker Park. The
parade is sponsored by Union Bank of California. Cut Roses may be
purchased from the Festival office before August 28, 2009 - 12:00 noon.

ROSE FIELD TOURS
In September, the rose fields in Kern County are ablaze with all the colors
of the rainbow. We invite you to come to Wasco during festival weekend
and take the entertaining and informative bus tour Saturday. These
relaxing tours depart from the south side of Barker Park every 20 minutes
and last for about 1 hour.

ART SHOW AND FAIRE
Saturday only
The OUTDOOR ART FAIRE will have food vendors and arts and crafts
booths on the shaded lawns of Barker Park and fine arts in the Veterans
Memorial Building at Barker Park.

SATURDAY PIT BARBECUE
Enjoy delicious pit barbecue beef, prepared by the Wasco Festival BBQ
committee, with live entertainment in Barker Park on Saturday. Tickets
are sold at the Rose Festival office and at the barbecue in the FESTIVAL
STORE. Proceeds are used to support the Festival.

"Rhythm of the Rose"

TENNIS TOURNAMENT
The Wasco High Racquet Club is sponsoring a tennis
tournament at the Wasco High School tennis courts Thursday
through Sunday. The tournament will feature men’s and
women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

SATURDAY PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Saturday morning you can enjoy a complete pancake and sausage
breakfast sponsored by the Wasco Salvation Army. It will
be held at the First United Methodist Church on 7th and Birch
Streets, from 7:30a.m. - 9:00a.m.

WASCO ROSE SHOW
The Rose Show sponsored by the Wasco Rose Society will
feature outstanding roses from the gardens of Kern County and
California. Each year the children’s divisions are among the most
colorful and creative. All schoolaged children are invited to enter.
The Rose Show will be held on Saturday in our air-conditioned
Veterans Memorial Building.

WASCO HISTORICAL MUSEUM
The Wasco Museum, located at 918 6th Street, is open to the
public on Saturday from 1:00p.m. - 4:00p.m. You are welcome to
experience Wasco history and view interesting artifacts and
memorabilia.
